Canadian Ecumenical Organisations

  1. Canadian Centre for Ecumenism/Centre canadien d’ œcuménisme
    The Canadian Centre for Ecumenism facilitates understanding and cooperation among believers of various Christian traditions and world religions.  Centre activities focus mainly in the areas of spirituality, education and dialogue.
  2. Canadian Churches’ Forum for Global Ministries, The
    A Christian agency through which Canadian churches reflect and work together on global mission issues, and are challenged to prophetic global witness through programs of education, training and dialogue.
  3. Canadian Council of Churches, The
    The Canadian Council of Churches is the largest ecumenical body in Canada, now representing 19 churches of Anglican, Eastern and Oriental Orthodox, Protestant and Roman Catholic traditions. It was founded in 1944.
  4. Canadian Theological Students’ Association, The (CTSA)
    CTSA seeks to foster ecumenism among students preparing for ministry and/or theological scholarship. Its primary activity, is the annual Canadian Theological Students' Conference (CTSC).
  5. Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, The
    The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC) is a national association of evangelical Christians. It exists to bring Christians together for greater impact in mission, ministry and witness. It was founded in 1964.
  6. KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives
    KAIROS unites churches and religious organizations in a faithful ecumenical response to the call to “do justice, and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8). It deliberates on issues of common concern, advocates for social change and joins with people of faith and goodwill in action for social transformation.
  7. Prairie Centre for Ecumenism, The
    The Prairie Centre for Ecumenism has been in operation since 1984. Our ministry involves the promotion of inter-church dialogue, understanding and co-operation. In addition, the Centre is also actively involved in inter-religious dialogue.
  8. Project Ploughshares
    Project Ploughshares is mandated by Canadian churches to work in developing and implementing peacemaking and peacebuilding programs and in carrying out research, policy analysis, and public discussion related to national and international conflicts, alternatives to armed conflicts, and the circumstances necessary to achieve and sustain national and international reconciliation and peace.

    The Student Christian Movement of Canada (SCM) is a progressive student movement engaged in social justice and spirituality. It was established in 1921. The SCM seeks to build communities where friendship, critical thinking and political action can flourish.
  10. Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada
    WICC invites Christian women to experience working ecumenically, to share spirituality, to organize around concerns as women and to take action together for social justice and human rights . The WICC traces its beginnings to 1918.

Theological Organizations

  1. Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada, The (ATS Online)
    The mission of The Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS) is to promote the improvement and enhancement of theological schools to the benefit of communities of faith and the broader public.
  2. Association for Theological Field Education (ATFE)
    Formally established in 1956, ATFE represents more than 100 theological schools across the United States and Canada. ATFE connects and bridges theory and practice, academy and church, local and global contexts, and the wisdom of the past and the dreams of the future. It seeks to shape creative visions for theological education in the future, new patterns for the changing contours of ministry, and imaginative ways to prepare persons to serve God effectively and faithfully in the church and in the world.
  3. Canadian Association for Pastoral Practice and Education (CAPPE)
    CAPPE is a national multifaith organization which is committed to the professional education, certification and support of people involved in pastoral care and pastoral counselling.
  4. Association for Biblical Higher Education, The (ABHE)
    - formerly The Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges.
  5. Faith and Wisdom
    Faith and Wisdom compiles continuing education events and programs throughout the world offered by some of the most distinguished organizations in North America and worldwide. These organizations have proven themselves trustworthy sources of lifelong learning for clergy, other church professionals, and for all who wish to pursue education as Christians.
  6. Canadian Theological Society
    The Canadian Theological Society promotes theological reflection and writing in a Canadian context. As a community of theologians it draws its membership from and attempts to serve three distinct, yet interrelated, institutions - the university, the seminary, and the church. As a member of the Canadian Corporation for the Study of Religion (CCSR), the CTS is a sponsoring society for the learned journal Studies in Religion/Sciences Religieuses, published by Wilfrid Laurier University Press.
  7. Société canadienne de théologie

    The Society for the Advancement of Continuing Education for Ministry is a net work of persons seeking to share resources, enhance skills, and promote excellence in lifelong learning for ministry. Founded in 1967, the SACEM is made up of members from around the world representing various denominational and religious affiliations, agencies, institutions, organizations, and forms of ministry.
